Update on Roger Legere
Roger and Beverly Legere remain in Portland, ME. Roger has spent several weeks in rehab following two strokes this summer. Roger’s cancer has now spread to his spine, pelvis and shoulders. To relieve some of the pain he is doing two weeks of radiation. His pain has worsened and he returned to the nursing home for continued radiation and pain management. Please keep up with him through the Caring Bridge site. At this site his family posts updates. Son Don reads all of the guestbook signings to him. Phone calls are difficult time wise for the family. Our part is still to flood his mail box with cards and notes. See address in the side bar.

Help Sessions…what to expect:

One to two mornings a week at 10:00 AM computer club members volunteer their time on a one on one basis. No matter how simple or complicated your concern is you will find folks working for a solution. Our goal is to constantly advance knowledge and open horizons to an ever expanding media. A donation slot in the computer cabinet is there to help the club maintain equipment, produce class handouts and run the computer club.
During the winter season the computer club maintains a bank of computers and a printer for anyone in the park to use. WiFi, DSL and dial up are available in the Leisure Center. WiFi can be found in and around the Leisure Center and the Ken Jones building.

Use, reuse, refuse to discard:
Any electronic item ready to be discarded should be taken to a recycling center. All are hazardous waste. These include cell phones (Verizon takes them for their battered women program) computers, keyboards, radios, ipods, blackberry phones. Google recycle of computer equipment and locate a recycling center in your area.

Recycle Online with MyBoneYard:
MyBoneYard™ was created to help people like you recycle electronic devices such as cell phones and laptops in a smart, responsible and eco-friendly way. This is the Simple, Safe and Smart way to recycle your old electronics.

HTR Computer Club September 2, 2008

Holiday Travel Resort Computer Club begins season 2008-2009
Plans are underway for the coming computer season in our park. We are exploring different topics, expanding help sessions and listening to the needs of our folks. Everyone is welcome to attend any session. Organized classes will most likely begin in January and continue through March. Again, these classes will be on Wednesdays at 1:00 PM. There is a nominal charge of $2 to cover the cost of printing handouts and reward the many presenters who spend much time in preparation.
Notifying the membership
This blog is being created to keep the membership informed. The address list will be added to as I am informed of a new address. While I have several addresses to use I find that some folks change those addresses as frequently as they change clothes! So...if you see someone left off please let me know their address at: MarsCreate@aol.com Subject line: new htr computer addy or such. This will keep me from deleting an address that I do not recognize.
