Wednesday, March 3, 2010 the computer class will be a lesson on learning and using copy, cut, and paste. This single, useful skill will benefit you constantly. The class will be one hour beginning at 1:00 PM. Bring your computer and be ready to work beginning at 1:00 PM.
The Computer Club holds weekly instructional presentations in the Leisure Center on Wednesdays at 1:00 PM.

March 2010 Newsette
This has been a successful year in providing Internet access, maintenance, and instruction or help by volunteers from the Computer Club. Thanks to all volunteers who come in to assist with the Help sessions on Monday mornings.
Presenters spend time preparing instructions for classes on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, Wednesday for a 2 hour session. These sessions are $2 each. There is a no charge Q and A session for an hour on the 1st Wednesdays. For help or use of the computers and printer there is a donation slot in the cabinet door.
HTR hosted www.geeksontour.com, Jim and Chris Guld the last week of January. These computer educators presented well attended seminars on Safe Computing, Picasa, and Google Earth. A one day Computer Boot Camp was full with 16 computers and one to two persons learning at a computer. As this season closes Geeks On Tour have us penciled in for the 2010-2011 season.

The park has purchased a stronger router named “restaurant” which serves the Ken Jones building and surrounding area. Thanks to the park manager for this purchase and to Jerry Wessel and George Younkin for the installation.

Microsoft Shortcuts class February 24, 2010
Tom Roule will present Microsoft shortcuts on Wednesday, February 24, 2010.
You will go through exercises in using the computer keyboard and mouse for quick ways to computing. Tom will explain shortcut keys, and function keys most comonly used. The handout has charts for My Computer, and Windows Explorer and the Window Desktop.
This class promises to be very informative and useful.

February 17 Class: Social Networking
The Wednesday Class, February 17, 2010, will be on social networking. The class will be presented by Dona Muller and Jane Low. Both presenters have experience using Face Book. Class time is 1:00 PM.

The Computer Club class on February 3 will be a Q and A session. This is an opportunity to ask questions and hear answers from those with computer knowledge. It will not be a time to have help. The class time is from 1:00 – 2:00 PM.
Also, in February, there will be classes on GPS routing, social networking and a hands on class of Microsoft shortcuts. Each class is $2 and a handout is provided.

You may be added to the invitation list to this blog by writing to MarsCreate@aol.com. Subject line: add to blog list and give your E mail address and your name.
Because of the extensive use in the park of the available WiFi coming from the Leisure Center it has become necessary to limit use to those attending computer classes on Wednesdays from 1:00 – 3:00 PM. In addition, if you are able to use WiFi in your unit you can free up the bandwidth by disconnecting from the network when not in use. WiFi is also available in the Ken Jones building.
The computer center is totally staffed by volunteers of the Computer Club. It is not managed by the HTR park.

GPS Systems Class topic 2-10-2010
GPS systems will be the topic for the weekly Wednesday class on February 10, 2010. Jerry Wessell, the presenter, has a wealth of information to give.
Jerry will have a hand out for the session as he makes explanations.
He says, “They can bring their GPS units or the information will work at home. I am thinking of taking a list from the people of their e-mail addresses and I can e-mail them the notes. Then they can click on the links in the notes and it will take them to the sites.”
He further says, “I am working to give them the most sites I can for all products: Garmin, Magellan, and Tom Tom.”
