The Computer Club has lost Jim Faubert, Vice President, on November 9, 2010 in Kincardine, Ont. Jim’s health kept him away most of the past season. He willingly gave help at the Monday morning Help Sessions. Jim left us rich with his kindness, willingness to solve computer problems and his caring personality.
The Computer Club is working on plans for the 2010-2011season. Again minimal help will be offered on Monday mornings at 10:00 AM until noon in the Leisure Center. Regular class sessions will be Wednesdays at 1:00 PM in the Leisure Center. The Wednesday classes are $2. A donation slot in the computer cabinet helps defray cost for the club.
The last week in January Geeks On Tour, Jim and Chris Guld, will be in the park to present three seminars and Computer Boot Camp. Sign up for Computer Boot Camp will be announced later.
Maximum boot camp size is 16 computers with two people using one computer. This six hour session will be on Friday, January 28, 2011 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 and 1:00PM – 4:00 PM. Computer Boot Camp will be in Sports Center. Each computer will get a disc of instructions along with a workbook. Jim and Chris Guld, teachers, are limiting this camp to computers with Vista or Windows 7. XP will not be included in Boot Camp. The cost of Boot Camp will be $60 for the six hours of instruction.
You may read about the Geeks on Tour at www.geeksontour.com . Jim and Chris Guld are computer educators traveling the USA and teaching. You are encouraged to take this opportunity to attend the seminars for $2 each or sign up for Computer Boot Camp at the charges of $60.
The newly appointed Advisory Council will be discussing many aspects of computers at HTR. They will serve as support to the officers.
