On January 21, 2009 John Cuthbert will present the importance of security for your computer. At the conclusion you will have the opportunity to download a free version of a virus protection with help from computer helpers.
Using a portable GPS will be presented by Charles Marston on January 28, 2009. Watch routes developed, and points of interest or accommodations highlighted. Learn how to make your GPS unit usable to you. Marston has been using a Garmin for about 10 years.

A new approach to the computer club Wednesday sessions is to involve folks with hands on approaches vs. just presentations. As of this writing this has been successful in instructing copy and paste techniques and getting attendees downloaded to Skype Internet Phone. Second, third and fourth Wednesday classes are at 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM in the Leisure Center. There is a fee of $2 to cover the handout costs and reward the presenters. The first Wednesday class is a Help Session from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. There is no charge for this help class. Help Sessions are also on Monday’s from 10:00 AM until noon.
The Computer Club maintains a bank of computers and a printer for park use. Recently park management and the computer club purchased a new computer for this service.
There is no charge for any help sessions or use of computers and printer. However, there is a donation slot in the wooden cabinet door for your appreciation. We welcome helpers on Mondays and first Wednesdays.

The computer club’s first president, Roger Legere, has passed away on January 15, 2009 in Maine. His long and courageous battle with cancer has ended. He has truly influenced many at HTR.
George Younkin was named Interim President on January 7, 2009. George’s enthusiasm and organizational abilities are benefiting the club as it provides instruction and help to park residents.
