Welcome Back, Internet!
A very brief blip of power to the park on Monday, December 11, 2012 was just sufficient to wipe out Internet access to the desktops and wifi! With searching in the LC and help from Jerry in Michigan it was determined that the culprit was the failed modem from the phone company.
The park called the phone company. Their tech came 48 hours later and reconfigured their modem. In his terms, "The blip of power scrambled the modem's brains!"
Our very adept computer gurus are looking at adding a device to prevent these failures. The early absence of the Internet was reminiscent of the last season.

April 2011 Newsette
The computer Club wishes to thank those who have made class presentations this year. Appreciation goes to Tom Roule, Jim and Chris Guld of Geeks on Tour, Sharon Ables, Jerry Wessel, Chuck Barlow and Roxie Marston.
Classes have been held on digital pictures, Picasa photo editing, Google Earth, Blogging, Ancestry, GPS systems, Skype, Microsoft shortcuts, copy-paste, streets and trips and favorite site sharing.
Thanks to all volunteers who have come in to assist with the Help sessions on Monday mornings. Volunteers helpers next year are welcome.
A bank of four online computers for public use has been maintained by club officers. The club blog, www.htrcomputerclub.blogspot.com has been frequently visited. Computer information will continue on this blog after you are gone from HTR.
The Computer officers and Advisory Council continue to assess the extreme use of the Internet in the immediate neighborhoods. Through an online site this use can be monitored. The information shows that people are staying online all day. Constant streaming of audio and video deprives others who are simply wishing to pick up their E mail.
Computer classes and help sessions will begin in December 2011.
